What to Expect

Chiropractic Care Phases

Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .

Clearing the Rubble - Relief Care

During the initial phase, the chiropractor's goal is to clear deeply set patterns of stress in your nervous system. In order to gain momentum and create rapid change, you will be asked to make several appointments close together during this phase. Simply put, we are clearing the nervous system to lay a proper foundation in order to re-build a healthy you! The chiropractic adjustment is the primary focus in all stages of care, although there may be other action steps for you to take in order to facilitate your healing process during this time.

Building the Structure - Corrective Care

If we stop after relief care, the chances of the condition recurring are much greater. Once we have cleared the patterns of neural stress, our body is able to rebuild itself through a process called cellular replacement. This process continuously occurs regenerating our organs, muscles, and tissues. Cell by cell, we build a healthy body through clarity of our nervous system.

During this phase, you will not have to receive chiropractic adjustments as often as you did during the first phase of care and, depending on your particular circumstances, the chiropractor may assign exercises and stretches to help accelerate your healing.

Beautifying the Building - Wellness Care

This is your time to choose chiropractic care versus "needing" it. You are choosing life, more energy, and more clarity dealing with daily stresses. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well in order to sustain the benefits of a fitness/nutrition regimen, it is necessary to continue chiropractic care to ensure health of your nervous and musculoskeletal system.  The frequency in which you will need adjustments from the chiropractor will be based on your lifestyle and goals at this point in care.
